How long does an epoxy floor take to install?
Most residential garages take 1–5 days from start to finish. The range depends on the size of the space, the condition of the concrete, and which system you choose — a metallic floor with multiple coats takes longer than a single-color polyaspartic.
We'll give you a specific timeline for your space when we quote it, not a guess.
When can I walk on it? When can I park on it?
Light foot traffic is usually fine within about 24 hours. Vehicle traffic needs longer — typically several days — because tires put far more stress on a coating than feet do, and parking too early is one of the most common ways a new floor gets damaged.
Exact cure times depend on the specific system and the weather during installation, so we'll give you firm dates for your job rather than a general rule.
Why do some epoxy floors peel or flake off?
Almost always because of prep, not the product. Epoxy needs to mechanically bond into the concrete. If the slab was only pressure-washed or acid-etched instead of properly ground, or if moisture in the slab was never tested for, the coating sits on the surface instead of locking into it — and eventually lifts.
That's why we diamond-grind, repair cracks, and moisture-test before any coating goes down. It's the least visible part of the job and the part that determines whether the floor lasts.
Do I need to empty out my garage first?
Yes. The entire floor needs to be clear and accessible — grinding equipment has to reach every inch, including along the walls and under shelving.
Plan on having vehicles, storage, and anything freestanding out of the space before the crew arrives, and keep them out until the floor is cured enough to hold weight.
How much does an epoxy floor cost?
It depends on three things: the square footage, the condition of the existing concrete, and the finish you want. A standard two-car garage in good condition with a solid-color system is at the lower end; a large space with cracked concrete and a custom metallic pour is at the higher end.

Is epoxy slippery when it's wet?
A smooth, high-gloss epoxy can be slick when wet — the same way polished tile is. If that's a concern for your space, there are good options: flake and quartz systems have natural texture built in, and anti-slip additives can be broadcast into the topcoat of most systems.
Worth mentioning up front if the floor will see water, like a patio, entryway, or a garage that gets hosed down.
Can you coat over cracked or stained concrete?
Usually, yes. Cracks, pitting, and old stains are normal and get addressed during prep — cracks are filled and ground flush, and stains are removed or sealed off so they don't bleed through.
Slabs with serious structural problems or active moisture intrusion are a different conversation. We'll tell you honestly if your concrete isn't a good candidate rather than coat it and let it fail.
How do I clean and maintain it?
Easily — that's a large part of why people choose it. Sweep or dust mop for everyday dirt, and mop with warm water and a mild cleaner when it needs more. Spills wipe up rather than soaking in.
Avoid harsh acidic cleaners, and put down a mat under anything that drips solvents or brake fluid for long periods.
